Aaron Crawford asked:

Finding a contractor to remodel your bathroom is little different from finding a contractor for any other remodeling job. It is important to be cautious when hiring anyone to do any work on your home, especially when it comes to plumbing and electrical. Since both of these are often involved in a bathroom remodel a little extra caution can be worth your while.

Many contractors advertise in newspapers, yellow pages, internet, radio and TV. You shouldn’t however consider an ad to be an indication of the quality of work that a contractor might do. You should get several written estimates from reputable contractors and don’t be afraid to ask for explanations for price variations. Don’t automatically choose the lowest bidder.

Depending on the size and complexity of the project, you will want to either hire a general contractor who will then be responsible for hiring out specialty contractors, getting necessary permits and scheduling inspections or hire each contractor and manage all aspects of the project yourself. If you are doing a complete remodel, you could need separate contractors for plumbing, fixtures, electric, flooring, cabinetry, general carpentry, dry wall, and painting. You also may want to consult a designer. Many find it much simpler to allow a general contractor to manage these contractors.

Be careful of less than reputable general contractors. Be skeptical of the following:

1. Door to door solicitors

2. Cash only contractors.

3. Contractors that ask you to get the necessary permits.

4. They just happen to have left over materials from a previous job they can use.

5. If there is no listing in the local phone directory for the contractor.

6. Contractors that offer you discounts to find them other customers.

7. You are pressured to make an immediate decision.

8. You are asked to pay for the entire job up-front.

9. They tell you that your job will be a “demonstration”.

10. The contractor offers exceptionally long guarantees.

11. If the contractor suggests you finance your remodel using a lender he knows. This could be a home refinance scam that causes you to lose your home.

Here are some questions you should ask when interview prospective contractors.

1. How long has your company been in business? Look for a well established company. Check with any available consumer protection officials.

2. How many jobs similar to mine have you finished recently? Ask for a list. It could help you determine if the contractor is familiar with you type of project.

3. Does my job require a permit. If the contractor asks you to get permits, it may indicate that he might not be licensed.

4. Do you have a list of references?

5. Will you be using subcontractors? If so, May I meet them? You should ask the subcontractors whether they are usually paid in a timely manner when working with your contractor and make sure they have the proper insurance and licenses.

6. What type of insurance do you carry? Contractors should have personal liability, worker’s compensation, and property damage coverage. Ask to see current copies of insurance documents.

Check References.

Speak to some of their previous customers. You may want to ask them:

May you visit their home to see the work that was done?

Were they satisfied with the work?

Were you kept informed about the status of the project?

Were there any problems along the way?

Were there any unexpected costs? If so what were they?

Did workers showed up on time and did they clean up after themselves?

If you needed a contractor today would you want to use them again?

Check with prospective contractors about payment options available. For larger remodeling jobs you can get your own loan or ask the contractor to arrange financing. Since your bathroom job may be a litter smaller, you may want to pay by check or credit card. Avoid paying with cash.

Building A Shed Door

Roger King asked:

Bathroom remodeling ideas offers many options for design, style, fixtures, and use of space. Whether you are completely redecorating a bathroom, or making a few simple design ideas come to life, these tips just might help. If you’re building or remodeling your home, the bathroom is one space you can’t afford to overlook.

You have to take into consideration your entire bathroom remodeling ideas and combine those with bathroom remodeling estimates. There are lots of smaller projects to add color, update lighting, or accessorize that will rev up the look of a bathroom, without spending a lot of money or waiting for a major remodel.

Bathroom remodeling or decorating offers many options for design, style, fixtures, and use of space. Review your storage options, then purchase some appropriate storage solutions such as drawer dividers, and fill antique bowls or shaving mugs with pretty toiletries, such as soaps or bath salts.

Mix and match colors by using a light-colored stain for the background and then applying a brighter color to some of the drawers. If you have room, consider adding a piece of outdoor furniture like a wicker chair or table. Finally, think about painting. Maybe your bathroom could use another coat of paint or perhaps it’s time to do something totally different.

Rubbermaid Storage Sheds

Kyle Richey asked:

In today’s fast-paced World, people seem to have less time for things around the house. Once the work week is over, many people are tired and just want to spend time with their family. When it comes to decorating a room in the house, it just seems like too much. So when the bathroom needs to be remodeled, who do people call?

The first choice for busy people is to call bathroom remodeling contractors. In many cities, there may be a lot of contractors, and it can be confusing at first. The people have to choose a decent one, which is sometimes the hardest part of all of the remodeling. The easiest way to choose a great bathroom remodeling contractor is to ask family and friends if they know of any one for the job.

Word of mouth means more than almost anything. You can also go to most home improvement stores and ask for a list of recommended contractors. This will give you with a good place to start.

Next, call all of the contractors on your list and describe to them what you need done. It is perfectly fine to ask for references as well. Check with some of the references and find out what they liked and didn’t like about that contractor’s services. Like many service professionals, bathroom remodeling contractors get work by their previous work. If they aren’t reputable, it will spread like wildfire!

How to Pay Your Bathroom Remodeling Contractor

Once you have decided on the right contractor, and the right price, the topic of payment will soon surface. In most cases, people don’t pay more than a deposit before the work is started. This is because if payment is made before the job is complete, the incentive to finish the project will have been lost.

They might ask for a portion up front for materials (deposit). The price is something that you and your contractor will have to work out. Talking about these things opens the doors for more questions, too. If you notice something that they don’t like, the contractor will appreciate being told right away. This saves materials and time.

Time is money and most people have a budget that they are following. When the remodeling is finished, the full payment will be expected. Remember that if the work was performed in a satisfactory matter, then you should pay the difference right away. this is common courtesy, and it also helps to have a contractor you know you can trust for any future remodeling you might need.

Do It Yourself Sheds

Roger King asked:

If you’re building or remodeling your home, the bathroom is one space you can’t afford to overlook. Bearing in mind how much time you spend in this room, you absolutely want that space to be at ease, useful and good-looking as possible. This bathroom remodeling section has articles on design fundamentals that go into a bathroom decor.

After your bathroom remodeling has been finished by a qualify contractor, here are some quick tips to give your bath a distinctive look. Add a simple detail, such as a picture rail or shelf along one wall, to display framed prints or small figurines.

Fill antique bowls or shaving mugs with pretty toiletries, such as soaps or bath salts. If you have room, consider adding a piece of outdoor furniture like a woven chair or table. Add accent lighting to your bathroom remodeling, like a low-voltage strip of lights around the top edge of the wall tile.

Draw attention to the ceiling with ornamental wood beams. Line an entire wall with mirrored cabinets. They will make the room look considerably more open. Instead of paint, try a colored stain to revitalize wood cabinets. Mix and match colors by using a light-colored stain for the backdrop and then apply a brighter color to some of the drawers. Add bright flowers or flowering plants to the room.

Look for unusual vessels, such as wall vases, old watering cans or window boxes to hold your favorite plants. Attach a beveled mirror to the wall over the sink and frame it with tiles. You can use a selection of mix-and-match tiles or try some colorful styles.

How To Find Cheap Garden Sheds
